Open AI File

AI file is a proprietary format created by Adobe Illustrator Artwork, to render single page vector graphics in EPS or PDF format.

The AI format became the standard file storage format for Adobe Illustrator, and consists of paths connected by dots, rather than image data.

Since AI image files are saved in vector format, they can be enlarged without losing image quality.

This being the case, a pixel file, such as a JPG or a PNG, is the counterpart of an AI, therefore the main difference between these two is that a pixel file is not changing its resolution when enlarged.

AI files are commonly used for logos and print media.

Software to open an AI file

To open an Illustrator document in Photoshop, the file must first have PDF content saved within the file, that is, it must have PDF compatibility activated, since without this it will not be able to be opened and it will show a message where it is urged to open it again in Illustrator and save it with PDF compatibility.
