Open CBC File

The CBC file format and extension is a type of e-book container file.

In other words, the CBC is a compressed file accessed by Calibre, an e-book conversion application.

Calibre is a free, open source, cross-platform e-book software package.

Calibre supports organizing existing eBooks into virtual libraries, viewing, editing, creating, and converting eBooks, as well as syncing eBooks with a variety of eReaders, including Kindle and Google Play Books.

The book edition supports EPUB and AZW3 formats.

The CBC file contains CBZ and CBR files, and also contains a TXT file called comics.txt that is encoded in UTF-8.

Said comics.txt file contains a list of the comics files contained within the CBC file.

It will look similar to the following:

  • one.cbz referred to Chapter One
  • two.cbz referred to Chapter Two
  • n.cbz: referred to Chapter N

Calibre automatically converts the CBC file into an eBook with a table of contents pointing to each entry in the comics.txt file.
