Open MEC File

The MEC file extension is a file used in the Hitachi Industrial Equipment Ladder Editor software and contains the comments and memos used in editing the ladder diagram designed through this program.

The Ladder Editor is a ladder diagram editing program for Hitachi Programmable Logic Controllers. It is a graphic editor with an area or canvas where the symbols and functions of this type of language are graphically written.

The MEC extension is used to store the memos and comments for each of the steps in the diagram. This file is also saved in the PLC device for future use and assistance by a programmer who needs to make modifications to the diagram.

The MEC extension is text file and an important characteristic is that the file cannot be empty. The MEC files should only be opened by Hitachi's Ladder Editor software, as the format is useful only for their PLC products.
