Originally BlackBerry was a line of smartphones, tablets, and services originally designed and marketed by Canadian company BlackBerry Limited, formerly known as Research In Motion Limited.

BlackBerry, today, is dedicated to the cloud-based information security market, telemetry, real-time operating systems, Internet of Things and vehicle operational monitoring.
Files with the REM extension are encrypted using a BlackBerry device and can also be decrypted with it.
Once decrypted, the files can be transferred to a computer and opened in the normal way.
